SLIMZ · LEGAL & ACCOUNT INFORMATION
Terms of service
The final data-retention arrangements and other launch details still need to be completed before the service launches. These pages must not be treated as a completed launch compliance statement.
Nutzungsbedingungen · Slimz — Sublet in my Zimmer
These terms govern use of the Slimz Android app and its room-listing features. The operator must be identified in the Impressum. Contact: contactus@slimz.app.
1. What Slimz provides
Slimz helps people find and share student-room listings by university. You can publish a room, view photos and availability, reveal contact details and revisit revealed listings. Slimz does not itself offer accommodation, enter into rental agreements, receive rent or deposits, or guarantee that a room or another user is genuine. Arrangements made directly between users are separate from use of Slimz. This does not exclude any responsibility that the law places on Slimz.
2. Accounts and eligibility
Slimz is intended for adults aged 18 or over. Provide accurate account and contact information, keep your sign-in details secure and notify us of suspected misuse. Do not impersonate another person, use another person's account without authority, or create accounts to evade restrictions. University and student information is self-declared; an account does not prove affiliation or identity.
3. Your right to offer a room
Only list accommodation you are legally entitled to offer. Obtain any necessary permission from the landlord, owner or other authorised party before offering a sublet, and comply with the lease and applicable housing rules. Statutory rights to request permission, including where applicable under § 553 BGB, remain unaffected; a listing or an app checkbox does not replace permission. Do not offer unavailable, fictitious or unlawfully occupied accommodation.
Keep the locality, availability, photographs and description accurate and up to date. Disclose material restrictions and the rent, deposit and other charges in the listing or before any agreement. Do not use misleading photos or conceal defects. Remove a listing when it is no longer available.
Avoiding payment scams
Do not transfer rent, a deposit, a reservation fee or any other accommodation payment before you have visited the room in person and checked the person offering it. An online request for advance payment may be a scam, and you may lose the money. When you reach the accommodation, discuss any proposed fee directly with the owner or authorised subletter, check their right to offer the room, and review the price, dates, written agreement and access arrangements before deciding whether to pay. An in-person visit reduces risk but does not guarantee that an offer is genuine. Report suspected fraud to Slimz and, where appropriate, the police or your payment provider.
4. Photo and content rules
Upload photographs of the room and its relevant facilities only. These restrictions apply to every listing, photo, description and other contribution:
- No personal facial photos: do not upload selfies, portraits, profile photos, or identifiable faces of yourself or anyone else. Check mirrors, framed photos and reflections; crop or obscure faces before uploading. Do not upload photographs of children.
- No explicit content: nudity, pornography, sexual acts, sexual solicitation, sexual services, non-consensual intimate imagery and sexual exploitation are prohibited. Any content involving child sexual abuse or exploitation is strictly prohibited.
- No harmful or unlawful content: do not post threats, harassment, hate speech, extremist propaganda, incitement to violence, graphic violence, or content promoting illegal goods or activities.
- Respect privacy: do not upload identity documents, bank details, private correspondence, medical information, passwords, access codes or other sensitive information. Remove visible documents and other people's personal details from room photos.
- Respect ownership: use only content you created or are authorised to publish. Do not copy another person's listing or photos, infringe copyright, trademarks or personality rights, or present stock or generated images as photographs of the offered room.
- No fraud or abuse: scams, phishing, malware, spam, fake reviews, misleading offers, coercion, and rent or accommodation in exchange for sexual acts are prohibited.
- Fair treatment: no discriminatory or degrading listings or conduct. Comply with applicable equal-treatment law, including the AGG where it applies.
Use revealed contact details only to discuss the relevant accommodation. Do not scrape, sell, republish, mass-message or use them for unrelated advertising, stalking or harassment. Do not bypass access controls or contact limits.
5. Permission to display your listing
You keep your rights in your content. By uploading it, you give Slimz a non-exclusive permission to store, resize, transmit and display it only as necessary to operate the listing service, including through its hosting providers. This is not permission to sell your photos or use them in unrelated advertising. The permission ends when the content is removed, subject to technically necessary deletion processing and lawful retention. Copies independently made by other users may be outside our control; their copying does not give them unrestricted reuse rights.
6. Contact limits and service availability
The current app permits three distinct contact reveals per account. Previously revealed contacts can be revisited without a further reveal while the listing remains available. Deleting a listing does not currently restore a reveal. Limits are shown in the app. Do not create extra accounts to circumvent them.
Maintenance, connectivity and technical problems may interrupt access. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or a successful room search. Any paid features would require separate, clear price and contract information before purchase; these terms do not authorise a charge.
7. Reporting content and safety concerns
Report suspected illegal or prohibited content using the content reporting page or contactus@slimz.app. Identify the listing or user, explain the concern and provide enough detail to locate it. Do not forward illegal imagery. For immediate danger, contact the police or emergency services; Slimz is not an emergency service.
8. Moderation and account restrictions
We may investigate reports, request clarification, remove or restrict content, warn users, or suspend or terminate accounts where necessary to address illegal content, a breach of these terms or a security risk. Decisions should be proportionate to the nature, severity and repetition of the conduct. We do not promise that every upload is screened or verified in advance.
Where required by law, affected users will receive the reason for a restriction and information about available redress, unless a legal exception applies. To challenge a decision, email contactus@slimz.app with the decision reference and your reasons. A report alone does not establish that a violation occurred. Statutory complaint, court and other redress rights remain unaffected.
9. Ending use and requesting deletion
You may stop using Slimz at any time and request account closure and deletion through the account deletion page. Removing a listing, signing out or uninstalling the app does not itself delete the cloud account. Any separate rental agreement or lawful obligation remains unaffected. Information about processing and retention is in the privacy notice.
10. Liability and mandatory rights
Slimz acts as an intermediary for people offering and seeking short-term accommodation. It is not a party to a rental, subletting or payment agreement between users, does not verify every user or room, and cannot guarantee that another user will act honestly. Users make and fulfil those arrangements at their own risk. Slimz is not responsible for fraud or loss caused solely by another user's conduct where Slimz has not breached a duty of its own. The following liability rules and mandatory rights still apply.
Slimz's liability is unlimited for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health caused by a culpable breach of duty, and where mandatory law otherwise requires liability, including under applicable product-liability law or an express guarantee.
For ordinary negligence causing other loss, liability is limited to breach of an essential contractual obligation whose fulfilment enables proper performance and on which users may ordinarily rely, and to the foreseeable loss typical of the contract. Otherwise liability for ordinary negligence is excluded to the extent permitted by law. These provisions also apply to our legal representatives and agents.
Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer rights, data-protection rights, or statutory remedies for digital services. Users remain responsible for their own rental commitments; this is not a blanket waiver of claims against Slimz.
11. Changes, applicable law and disputes
Material changes will be communicated clearly before they take effect. Where agreement is legally required, it will be obtained; silence alone will not be treated as agreement to material changes. An updated website page alone does not retrospectively change an existing contract.
German law applies subject to mandatory protections available to consumers under the law of their habitual residence. These terms do not impose an exclusive German court on consumers or waive statutory jurisdiction rules. If a provision is ineffective, statutory law applies in its place; the remaining terms apply only as permitted by law.
Consumer-dispute-resolution information will be completed in the Impressum once the operator's status and any participation obligations have been confirmed.
